Home 9 Feature 9 Time For Radical Change

Have you ever looked at the education system and felt it’s slightly outdated?

Instead of providing what’s best for the kids, don’t you feel the schooling currently is more for the benefit of society than the actual child?

If you think about the school day, it mimics the average working day for an adult, providing child care until parents are able to pick kids up. Is this length of schooling actually necessary or conducive?

Don’t get me wrong.
Education is good and necessary.
But too much of a good thing isn’t a good thing anymore.
And the current system isn’t designed for the kids.
It’s designed by adults for adults.

What if kids (and parents) could be part of the design and running of a school? What kind of school would they create?

At UK Virtual School, I want the kids to be part of the radical change we need to see in schooling. We hold monthly meetings with kids where they have a say in changes we implement.

I know there’s so much still to do. And we need ideas!
Ask your child: if they could design a school online and offline, what would it look like?
