Home 9 Meetings 9 March Parents & Kids Meeting Updates

by | Mar 25, 2021 | Meetings | 0 comments

March was all about progressive learning and productivity. What an amazing month we had! In our usual monthly tradition, we’ve invited parents and students to ask them for feedback. Missed the meeting updates? No worries, we’ve got it covered for you.

Website Changes and UKVS Characters

Our website will have a brand new look soon! We’ve taken a look at how the website should represent UK Virtual School. As we continue to embrace our identity, our team invited new friends who will join us in our home educating journey. Students who attended the Kids Meeting had a glimpse of our UKVS Characters: Growth Mindset, Curiosity, Innovation, and Diversity & Inclusion. These new friends represent our core values. We can’t wait for you to meet them!

Academic Journal

That’s right, we will have our very own academic journal! Journals help improve our productivity. Keep track of your subjects, note important reminders, and plan your routines. Have fun with stickers featuring our new characters! The UKVS Academic Journal will launch in September. What do you want to see in a journal? Let us know!

World Views

We’ve been looking at expanding our courses. We’re considering offering World Views beginning in September. This will be an interesting subject as there is a wide variety of countries around the world to explore! Prepare your passports and we’ll fly across the globe for a safe and quick trip.

Study Groups Recordings

As parents have suggested during the meeting, it will be helpful for students enrolled in the study group sessions to have access to recordings. We’ve considered, and after a thorough discussion, recordings of the study group sessions will now be available. Students can rewatch the sessions to further help them in recalling processes, methods, and application of ideas. Not yet booked in our study sessions? Year 9 and Year 10 students are highly encouraged to join.

Study Skills Guidance

One feedback that was prominent during the meeting was that students find it difficult to utilise and maximise their resources. We’re continuously coming up with ideas to further support UKVS families. We’re doing a session on study skills and time management guidance for Year 9 and Year 10 students to strengthen the backbone of their studying habits. Learn more here.

Assessment Ideas

One topic that was addressed in the meeting was preparing our students for assessments. Since we are all connected virtually, we are coming up with strategies and practices in implementing these assessments online. We would like to further hear from parents, so if you have suggestions that can help improve the process, please let us know.

That’s all for March! We can’t wait to see you back in April.
